Facility
Boat Storage Shed (Obstacle Facility)
While not inherently hard to find or break into, most people wouldn’t suspect a building typically used to store boats could be used as an odd sort of evidence locker or space to examine evidence. It has some basic outlets and places to cleanly store evidence, as well as folding tables, and a high school grade microscope. And access to a nearby barbeque restaurant, if she gets hungry. She’ll have to get the police, FBI, or Psyche to help if she wants access to complex equipment though. +3 Obstacle Rating to identify it as such.
Appearence:
Nikki has fair skin, green eyes and lips, and black hair cut in a short, gender neutral style. She cuts an absolutely stunning figure, though her clothing doesn't take full advantage of it. She can be seen wearing punkish-looking denim jacket with a black shirt, as well as jeans and black tennis shoes. Her overall outfit is meant to give the impression of a tough girl. While it definitely screams 'tomboy' her overall outfit doesn't immediately 'out' her as being a butch lesbian.
Personality:
Nikki is the analytical type, and has a tendency to weigh her options carefully most of the time, coupled with a fairly stern personality. She typically enjoys video games, though sports are still fun on occasions to her, and she has quite the appetite. Obviously, she’s not terribly feminine. Nikki has a strong regard for order and the rule of law, and tends to be driven by an interest in justice.
Being thrown into a world she barely understood before, being ripped away from her old life, and of course, being turned into a woman has shaken her hard. Suffice to say there’s a lot of emotional baggage with that, which has made her uncertain, unstable, and pained.
Background
Nikki was born as Nick Howell, to the accountant Bernadette and Leon Howell, an investigator with the FBI, and had a younger sister by the name of Samatha that’s two years here junior. Though the family was normal, it had some connections to the community.
The connection started in 2002, after the start of the War on Terror. Leon was then part of an anti-terrorist division of the FBI, and was sent to investigate the site of a suspected division of Al Qaeda… which was actually a nascent Balor Cult. Leon quickly suspected it wasn’t Al Qaeda, when he found some book about Balor. Muttering to himself that he was fighting ‘Neopagan Terrorists’, a line that would become SD division slang for a Balor Cult for years to come. Searching the site more, he can across the cult leader, who now had laser eyes. Fortunately, his kevlar vest managed to protect him from the attack, with which he responded by shooting the cult leader in the head. As it turns out, lasers you don’t know how to use will only get you so far.
Naturally, Leon was left wondering what the hell he’d just gone through, when the SN division contacted him, and he eventually was transferred.
Going back to Nikkii’s story, Nick grew up in a fairly well-to-do household that by all accounts was pretty stable. Her father frequently got called out during dinner, but that just became the expected. Nikki did well enough at school, and had a pretty normal life aside, though he did have some weak second hand knowledge of the supernatural.
All that changed on a fateful vacation after she graduated from high school. Nick and his family decided to go to the beach, when Leon got called to deal with ‘exotic fruit dealer’. Essentially, some madman was trying to sell dryad fruit, despite knowing what it did.
And wouldn’t you know, Nick unwittingly ended up buying and eating some near the end of the vacation, thinking it was just an odd kind of apple. When Nick came down ill, Leon eventually realized what happened, and deathily ill Nick was rushed into Psyche’s care.
Failing to simply purge it from Nick, there was the attempt to use an experimental shaping technique weaken it so Nick would end up an Oread - something that would have even made it worthwhile. It failed. However, in the end, they were able to save… her.
Thanks to Psyche expertise, shortly before the school year was to start, Nick awoke from her coma as a dryad, screaming when she realized she was now female. The explanation of what happened was scarcely comforting, as she realized that she was now cut off from not only her old sex, but also her old life. Needless to say, it felt like her life was coming crashing down around her.
Her family was able to comfort her some, but only enough to where she stopped considering taking her own life. Unfortunately, with the school year incoming as well, it took Psyche stepping into fix things to where she could attend at all. Government connections were able to create ‘legitimate’ documents for her, at least not making her an alien in her own country. She didn’t really have much time at all to adjust before being thrust into a world she barely knew.
