The faded lettering of "Tae Kwon Do" remains etched on the outer walls. The neon signing had long since been taken down, but the imprint of where sun hadn't touched for years has etched it forever. It is part of a small shopping center, within walking distance to a supermarket and a gas station. The fact this facility hasn't been snatched up could be an oddity, but smaller stores around the lot constantly change hands or abandoned as businesses faltered.
Its front would have imitations of rice paper walls. The quality worn and ripped in places to reveal the safety glass beneath. The entry doors were once supposed to be lined red, but now look a liver colored pink. To approach any of it would be to go up a concrete sidewalk off the parking lot, following some simple black railings. Pull doors. It looks a simple lock. Graffiti is littered on the rice paper, keeping it a mixture of contemporary art and strong words. A "Closed" sticker is stuck to one of the windows. The only outer appearance that someone lives here is a small stand set up outside the doors. On it rests a well manicured, patiently maintained, bonsai tree.
The dojo is floored in carpet. Not the good kind, but that uncomfortable industrial grade. Spacious is a word for the place. Vacuous is another. It isn't divided with any partition. Just groups of things spaced just so. Decorations from old posters are stuck on the walls of old tournies won or lost. Newer messages are written on wall scrolls over various virtues. The lighting is dim, but available by hit and miss fluorescent lighting. The most busy section, or at least the brightest, is a large arcade machine plugged into the wall. The large DDR machine is in good shape, if well used. For energy conservation and to get away from the bright flashing lights, it is usually off until needed. All of the high scores have the same name of FANG. The only real customization dealt to it is a simple cup holder screwed into the side of the machine.
A projector has been set up in the dojo. It works as the general purpose TV. Furniture is composed of an odd assortment of chairs. One beanbag, one metal folding, and a plain wooden chair. Cords dangle to a rolling tray looking like it belonged in an elementary school with how bright it was. Decorating it are the quality necessities of the modern life. The makings of a modern entertainment system. Modern being a... stretch.. as they look a little roughed up: a dvd player, a vcr player, and a liberally duct taped universal remote. With that massive of a screen, the "tv" can easily be seen from her ah.. well.. bedroom. Her 'bedroom' is more a 'bed' in a corner of the dojo. A small screen is up in case of lights bothering, but not enough to really bring privacy. Xue Fang's bed is a futon, applied with some duct tape. The pillow is a rather bright red number that feels more like its filled with gel, but hey it works. There is a clock, a nice solid one that could be used like a baseball in a pinch - fitted with a windup back. Blankets are plenty, but those two have seen a few on sight repairs.
Duct tape is the universal fix. The "kitchen" consists of a microwave, a hot plate, and a few sketchy kitchen pieces. Any time the appliances look like there is a problem, apply a layer of duct tape. Bowls have cracks. Duct tape. That's a nice glass. Duct tape. It makes the place oddly economical and humorous. Food stuffs are of a few assortments, packs of ramen, a few cans of ready-made pasta, and a few two-liters. Though once its all said and done, there is no obvious "sink" readily available. Though maybe that's what the locker rooms are now used for? There are two of them, men and women's. The facility, as well as the rest of the building, seems to be quite clean despite its otherwise appearance. Ahh.. there they are. On the women's side the dishes are set to the side next to one of the sinks for storage. A few of the lockers have been turned into storage, and overall it seems a large closet - just mostly empty. The men's however looks... spotless, if unused except for the storage place for cleaning supplies - brooms, mops, that sort of thing.
That leaves the office room. Its the only locked door inside the facility. It is easily the most macabre room in the whole place. The office is set up with a recliner, with dozens of spare cybernetic parts and limbs about. Some hang from the ceiling, others packed in a closet. The entire room is set up for the singular purpose of maintaining her being. A small stand is set up beside the recliner, with what seems to be medical supplies in case of an emergency. The small window has been barred and boarded, allowing only the ceiling light for illumination. The door can be bolted from the inside, with a key to lock it from the outside if needed.
