REALLLY sketchy God and Demon gender statistics...
Gods Born: 58% female, 37% male, 4% androgynous, 1% intersexed
Populations: 42% female, 33% male, 15% androgynous, 8% intersexed, 2% shift
Gender Choice based on External Factors over Internal Factors: 15-20% (usually a House leader or parent)
Demons Born: 75% female, 20% male, 4% intersexed, 1% androgynous
Populations: 38% female, 35% male, 17% shift, 9% intersexed, less than 1% androgynous
Gender Choice based on External Factors over Internal Factors: 22-30% (usually societal image)
Sexuality:
Other- sexual attraction is based on characteristics unrelated to gender such as intelligence or connection with the sea.
God Strictly one gender 34% Prefer one gender 15% Equal gender preference 11% Uninterested in sex 21% Other 19%
Once again, Gods are more likely to bend there demonstrated desires to the demands of specific individuals.
Demon Strictly one gender 23% Prefer one gender 27% Equal gender preference 32% Uninterested in sex 4% Other 12%
Unlike gender identification, Demons are less likely to model their sexuality based on societal image.
this is more for my benefit, the end discussion likely won't have numbers involved....and there is a significant psychological difference between one that identifies as female and one that identifies as whatever they feel like....
the ones marked as women will consider themselves women even if they disguise as a man and will tend to react poorly to suggestions they are anything but (usually waiting til disguise is dropped) and won't be comfortable with the disguise.....
the ones that are marked shift don't particularly care
will change androgynous to genderless though
The gender things are mostly psychological. If you take away external pressures there would probably be a high plurality of Gods that identify as non gender and a likewise plurality of Demons that identify their gender as shifting. Those that identify as both male and female simultaneously are still uncommon on both sides but more common with Demons.
Bit of an email conversation:
Pre-Reader: What would Other be? Beasts? Corpses? Eldrich Abaminations? Polymorphic sex?
Me: Sexually attracted to intelligence regardless of gender
Lusca's preference for people connected to the ocean.
It's basically when choice on personality overrides gender to the point where gender is a non issue.
They're not attracted to men or women, they're attracted to a personality type
Pre-Reader: How is that different from bisexuality? After all most people are attracted to specific traits (physical and personality) rather than merely gender. In a bisexual gender is already a non-issue as they are attracted to both. It reminds me of a general in Star Wars who is only attracted to certain facial features in women. Of course when age takes them he moves on to the next woman and may not even be aware of why.
Me: Naiki is bisexual. Aside from the blonde thing she's attracted to handsome guys and pretty girls. She knows the difference, likes both sets of features but prefers them to match the gender.
Lusca barely notices a distinction between men and women save mechanics. And she was that way before she went bonkers.
In Bystander, Lucretia, despite being very promiscuous, has rarely been aroused In her life. The only person she's currently attracted to is someone that cares about her but has no sexual attraction for her.
A girly-boy or manly-woman are just the same to Lusca and Lu as individuals more normally considered hot. Naiki is a lot less likely to even notice someone of uncertain gender.
<Other Friend> can say whether I'm blowing smoke and don't know what I'm talking about though.

....now THAT is very interesting with Lucretia....Darn good book. Honestly, Thryth...and I hate to say this...it's better WRITTEN then Divine Blood's novel, even if the setting isn't as awesome.
Divine Blood has a GREAT novel right up until the finale, where it suffers a bit from, well..."Stations of Canon" in FMP fic. Everything BUT the FMP fic parts are awesome, though. Scott would like the FMP fic parts, as they're mech battles.
But...iiinteresting.

Lu's sexuality is partially trauma induced and partially the fact that her "mother" is a spirit and thus genderless despite being capable of approximating a gender.
