Appearance
Luke’s body is the picture of malnourishment, the product of years of scraping. His skin is naturally rather pale, though has gained a bit of color from large amounts of time outside. His black hair is shaggy and thick, rarely kempt and holding the dirty sheen of grease. The length allows his bangs to act as natural camouflage for his compound eyes. Hus human eyes are dark, the irises a dark enough brown to appear black in low light. Despite his gaunt appearance, his face retains some roundness. This can cause him to appear younger than he really is.
Backstory
Abandoned at a young age, Luke spent the early part of his life jumping from foster home to foster home. His disability made him a rather undesirable ward, especially when limited to masquerade-abiding homes. As he grew older, Luke began to grow less respectful of his temporary homes. Tired of the system, he run away from his assigned home at the age of thirteen. Little was done to recover the lost youth, the foster system glad to be rid of him.
Luke took to the streets. While now happier with the full control over his life, being on the streets had a rather obvious disadvantage: no food. He started off by scavenging, living off scraps and leftovers thrown out of restaurants. The longer he was out, though, the more daring he grew, eventually turning to taking food more directly. Picking pockets seemed too risky, so burglarizing houses became his goal.
He kept his crimes petty, more concerned with survival than riches. He would steal food first and foremost, occasionally pocketing minor jewellry. Keeping his crimes small would keep authorities from caring too much. In addition, he would avoid sticking to any one place too long, hitching a train or a ride between cities after staying for a while to stay ahead of anyone looking for him. He grew better and better at this, eventually finding his way to Haven.
