The skip in conversation doesn't give Xue much of a pause. She looks to the one, Mara. There's a pause as she sizes up the ah... robot(?). After a second has passed Xue gives a nod to Mara. She doesn't have any particular disdain or fascination cross her face - just a matter of fact trifle that crossed her plate. The would-be ninja gives a smaller bow of her head to Mara, "A pleasure to meet you Mara."

Nikki felt like she was digging herself in deeper and deeper. She cursed herself in her mind "Stupid Nick! I probably look like some delicate flower, ugh! Should kept quiet!"
It at least looked like Mara was embarrassed, there was also the late arrival. Hopefully, they would let her fade into the background long enough for them to forget things.

Robin drops her shoulders as she watches people introduce themselves. Right out in the open ? In front of everybody else ? Robin never did anything like this, and while others could claim that they're mysterious cyborg-robot people, she was somebody who gamed just a few more days away than she'd like to admit. She glances over to the newcomer while she 'prepares' her own little speech, attempting to fluff her own self up without coming up with a lie. Great timing! In an attempt to buy herself a bit more time while she grinds her creative gears, she waves over to Chii "Hi there, you're a little late to the party, but you haven't missed too much yet, no need to worry."

Chii looks a bit startled for a second, then looks over to the person waving her down and walks closer. "Oh.... thank you. That's good."

Greta claps her hands once to gain attention, and looks over everyone. "Excellent. Well now that Xue has given us an introduction that tells nothing, and Mara has given her species. Which means we still know next to nothing about each other. Well, I suppose I wills tart off, for those of you who arrived late. My name is Greta Van Hout. "Greta of the Wood" I was born quite a long time ago, in what is now known as the Holy Roman Empire. No, I did not meet many famous people. I was a peasant. I did manage to gather quite a bit of money, eventually. In part, because I had a coin collection. I grew up in the middle to late "Middle Ages", and lived through quite a bit of troubles. Including the Thirty Years War. Which I tried very, very hard to avoid. I DID meet a few pirates. The skill I most value, besides my intellect and memory, are my skill at make-up. I actually did a stint in Hollywood early on. I even met Lon Chaney. I also hate, hate, hate, HATE the sheer amount of documentation the modern days use. I was nearly deported to Russia once, actually, thanks to that. There, that should be sufficient to understand me. Now you all try."
She looks over the class, waiting for someone to volunteer personal, private information in front of everyone.

Mara just kinda hides under her hat. She nods a bit to the ninja in recognition of his response to her, but she still doesn't feel like she belongs, even if everybody else, DOES. ...Besides, she was pretty sure that the details of how she became a robot are classified... and if not, they sure should be. She didn't want anybody else trying to duplicate what caused 'her' to come about.
...She's fascinated by Greta's story... and would be asking a few questions, had she not pushed the buck onto her students, and where Mara herself not feeling so displaced at the moment. She's been called an 'object' enough times in the courtroom to make her rather nervous about showing her face. ...Or her body. ...Or... uh... most anything about her, really. They're starting to get to her, and she doesn't like being sad, or angry, so she'll settle with staying a bit out of the way for the moment... but... she grits her mechanical teeth. That's not LIKE her, but... oooh she just didn't know what to do. Stupid body, stupid lawyers, stupid school... Deep calming breaths... she didn't want to break the chair she was on... "I, ah, I'm from America..." She hesitates. "I'm a lot better at math and my memory's pretty good now, but I'm not really sure what I want to get into... at the moment I'm just having a hard enough time avoiding all those stupid annoying LAWERS that heckle me every single d-" ...She pauses. ...She forces a cough and blushes. "...Uh. Legally, I am not an 'object' or a 'possession'... but people are still trying to reverse that decision, so, uh, if any good-looking people in suits start asking you suspicious questions about me, please don't answer... they shouldn't know where I am at the moment, but I doubt that will keep them at bay for long..."

So it seemed Greta had a long and interesting, if somewhat uncomfortable life. She was well-aware of her own immortality; that much had been explained to her... a pretty cool perk, if you asked her. If the whole dryad package hadn't cost her own, she'd have been thrilled.
Nikki listened to Mara explain herself, nodding until the lawyers were mentioned. Mara had people who... were trying to prove she was a... more like she'd punch them in the frickin face if they started asserting that "Right. Punch any idiot lawyers who ask too many questions about you in the frickin face. Got it." she replied to Mara's introduction, sounding indignant about it, before flashing Mara a 'I've got your back' smile briefly. Well, she wasn't about to let them enslave her, if not worse "Thought all that crap ended with... you know... the Civil frickin War."
She sighed. She'd already spoken up, so she might as well go next. Still sounding a bit indignant, she started speaking up "Nikki Howell. I'm from the next town over. My father is Colonel Johnathan Patrick Howell; he's stationed at the army base over there, so I grew up in that kind of military environment. I ended up turning into a dryad during the last part of last summer after eating some fruit." Her explanation was short, and projected with confidence and self-assurance; actually, Mara making her feel indignant had broken her feelings of embarrassment "My life's actually been pretty normal, aside from that last part." She omitted the part about having been born a boy, but it wasn't like anything else she'd said was a lie.

"Oh boy..., I suppose in comparison, I have a more normal story to share" She begins, pushing her glasses up a bit "Name's Robin Weaver. I'm originally from the other side of the US, but my mother and I were moved to a safer place on this side due to the civil wars who waged there at the time, not a nice sight... at all" She says, making a short break to look around the crowd for any heavy reaction or a question, and continues upon seeing that it was not the case "After we were moved to a more peacefull place, I was homeschooled for... safety measures. My hobbies uh... I like computers." She skipped the part of her hobbies fairly quickly, there was nothing big to share yet anyway "I am not deadset on where I'd like to go with my life, but I thought I might join the Community or another foundation which helps to unfiddle the knots of society right now."

Xue Fang nods along with everyone's particular introductions. The age of the dryad gets her attention the longest; but that eventually fades to a patient and polite stance. An ancient. A transformed dryad of militant background. That one was noteworthy for a moment. A self aware robot... pass. And finally, the gamer girl that.. liked computers. Well that's fair, Xue wasn't exactly the most forthcoming herself. Hm. Well apparently they were revisiting introductions if they were not satisfactory before. Then how much to tell? Mah. So frustrating. Oh well, she supposed, no reason not to be a bit friendly. "Hm. I apologize for my inadequate introduction. I am Xue Fang." It would be a bit... funny to end it there, but she doesn't, "I was born in Songbak. I have extensive cybernetics, but cover them as to not cause visual discomfort to those that are offended by such practices." She purses her lips in thought. Well. It doesn't really tell them anything. Though maybe just a little more?
"I am a fan of Dance Dance Revolution, and have a machine at my residence."

Chii stayed back a bit, listening to the life stories from the others, nodding at Ms. Van Hout's story. The robot girl's story, though.... Chii's mouth hung open, gaping in horror...she almost missed Nikki and Robin speaking. How could any intelligent, speaking being be considered a possession? What did these "lawyers" think they were, anyway, to make such a decision and try to enforce it upon her anyway?
Since she was standing next to Robin, she realized it was probably her turn to speak. After a brief period of awkward silence, she spoke.
"...I'm Chiyembekezo, though most people call me Chii. I'm from Mozambique." She pauses for a moment. "I'm studying to become a doctor, and I've already had some experience working in a hospital." She neglects to mention precisely where or what hospital.
She continues with "I suppose it's fairly obvious what I am," pointing to the subtle red lines on her face and her small fangs, "and before you ask, no I don't try to buy souls. Some people in this country have really strange ideas..."

Greta nods. "Well...that seems much more sufficient. The purpose of introductions is not simply to introduce yourself, but to...well...break the ice. Also, Ms. Chiyembekezo...I do not believe I've met a...Demon, I presume? I do not believe I have met one of your kind before. And, Mara. If you need help later on, I will see if my Community contacts can assist in fighting these foolish lawyers. Some of them have also moved to have me arrested for fraud, due to issues with the paperwork on my finances."

The demon does get more of a reaction. Xue's stance turns a little more to keep Chii in her view. A demon.. well.. that's something. It takes a bit longer before she gives a nod of greeting and looks back to the others. "A doctor..." She says on the off hand, "That's a good goal to have." Her thumbs stay tucked in the hem of her leggings. "I haven't had much use for lawyers. Though I suppose that is to my good fortune."

"An arcade machine at your place ? Neat." Robin replied to Xue, before she moved over to the refreshments that have been set out conveniently, grabbing a can of soda and popping it open, before she takes a good sip, listening to the other people in the meanwhile, they definately prove to be more interesting than the refugee.

A bit of a smile tricks its way over Xue's lips. "Yeah... its good for a workout." She says in return. Her answer leaves her before she looks to Robin. Not much of worrier at the moment, Xue nods over to Robin and eyes the cache of refreshments. Well she'll check those out later. She already got called out once already. For now it was 'social time', as weird as that was. "Though only the one machine. What about yourself?" That slight moment tingled in the back of Xue's head. Did she say something eh... improper? Not politically correct, or whatever, with the self aware robot in the room? Mah. These situations...

Wait, civil wars? She'd never heard about those... and her father was pretty well-ranked in the military. Not to mention it would have taken a herculean effort to conceal in the age of Twitter and Facebook. Then again, apparently, entire species had been concealed... and magic... honestly, whoever was leading them, Nikki half-suspected that the leaders of whatever groups were concealing them revealed with favorable terms to themselves, in exchange for teaching politicians how to cover up their activities.
Anyways, there was apparently a demon in the classroom too. Apparently, the other people were gamers. Well, it look like she wasn't by default dealing with anyone who'd try to braid her hair or some crap like that "Funny. Before just a while back, I'd have thought the supernatural community would have been using more... you know, magic." she explained. She was well aware of the fact that she herself could use any as a dryad, but that didn't mean she didn't expect others to be using more mundane methods.
