This is a new forum, a new setting, a new everything. This thread is for people to post general requests for how things will work out, now that things are just starting to get off the ground. Just general things, like the feel, a specific character type you want, hijinks you want... things like that. It doesn't have to agree with everybody that's already posted, so don't be afraid to post something that goes against what somebody else said. Also, don't debate anybody's requests on this thread. This is just for gathering information, and to help people get adjusted to using the forum.

I'm going to start off! >D And I can do that 'cause I made this thread! Ha-HA! Take that all you not-me-people!
I would like this forum to have a generally light hearted setting, and have potential for wacky TFy hijinks.

I would like to have wacky TFy hijinks as well, but would like the focus to be on story and character development. I think that's what keeps people playing and keeps people invested in the RP for more then a couple months.

My suggestion then is that everyone has some sort of shapeshifting potential even if they're not aware of it and or haven't paid for it. (in fact for TFy hijinks, they likely haven't otherwise they'd be able to cancel out the TF). For most people, transformation is a strenuous thing especially if it involves heavy changes. So if a non-shapeshifter were given, say, a werewolf curse, they might be insane by the end of the first 3 day full moon cycle (though the resilience of the TF would keep their body intact for most people) after having 6 major transformations in three days (to and from).
Transformation is generally considered long-term and/or permanent and people will be expected to wait an extended time between TFs. That said, a versatile enough shapeshifter would just get tired and maybe experience some minor corruption that goes away over an hour or two. (corruption is not moral corruption, it's a disruption of Life Force flows, generally manifests as bruising, nose bleeds, that sort of thing). Gods, Demons and Visionaries are all shapeshifters (though the Visionaries don't realize it yet) sort of...it's more accurate to say that their mind builds their bodies so they can do shapeshifting easier than most. People with God or Demon blood might inherit shapeshifting ability. Plus there's gorgons, lots of therianthropes and assorted other species with some level of shapeshifting ability...enough to have a whole cast of people who are shapeshifters without knowing it.

Thrythlind. Could we have shapeshifting via Shaping or Channeling, and such be explained either by something in the blood of the people of the setting, so even apparently Vanilla people can do it, or just by making Transformation spells easier thanks to 'crazy-stuff' going on in this specific area?
As I brought forward in my notes, an idea was to have the area have...issues.

While it might perhaps be obvious with having TF stuff going on, I'mma double that up by saying, having quite a bit of racial diversity is a must. How else will I have my alchemic...cyborg....thing I dunno, and my ghost kitsune?

Good news. I just linked the races, and there are others. Alchemical Cyborg is QUITE easy, as a Homonculus is a standard race, and cybernetics are VERY common.
Ghost Kitsune is harder, as Ghosts in divine blood are a bit different...but Kitsune are a VERY common race, comparitively. (As in 'one of the major starting characters' in Demon Next Door.

It's possible, you're doing an alternate timeline slightly. Physics and therefore biology can have minor differences as well. And by 2025 cybernetics might actually be able to keep up with natural limbs.
Shaping is the normal way to go about performing a transformation you just decide it's less strenuous in your setting. Channeling in theory could lead to shapeshifting, but that's a LOT of trial and error.
Basically, born with a talent means there's a genetic hard wire and instinct so that you can just trigger a specific effect.
The bulk of shaping and channeling knowledge came from people straining their life forces over the generations until they could get the right sequence of sub-atomic particles to do the right domino game.
Gods, Demons and Visionaries have the Understanding, so they have it easier.

You could also do the ghost thing if someone developed an ability to go intangible. (hasn't really happened yet in my canon but, again, theoretically possible)

I would enjoy if, atleast at a later point, the RP might happen just outside of school aswell (In the appropriate times of course, unless students decide to... skip school ;Gasp; to research into an odd anomaly or something the like), to add some variety to places. Also, Butterfly people... I want butterfly people with wings and antenna and cute wrist-fluffs or maybe even a couple more mildly insectoid races ?

Chikashia, that's entirely possible. (Note that Ghosts are an NPC, I'll check with Thryth on the AP cost). At the least, you could play a Butterfly Therianthrope.

currently just have spider people, one of which looks more like a shriveled corpse (Chiang Shih) and the other of which is on the way to being genetically assimilated by humanity because, to quote a half-jurougumo "humans are cute".
But mothmen are a myth...so definitely doable.
