Katelyn grins.
"I was scared at first, but learning magic could be really fun~ I'd be like Sailor Moon!"

Nikki was rather shocked when she mentioned oread fruit, and had to spend a minute organizing her thoughts "Wait, hoooold everything."
Okay, Nikki beat the odds in her own way, but still. What the Hell was an Oread "I thought dryad fruit was the only cursed fruit out there. You telling me there's other kinds?" It must have been far rarer than dryad fruit... or a lot more lethal.

Delphi was startled by being singled out. She blushed a little, while the branches on her back moved forward to hide her face a little. There's only thirteen Oreads? Delphi thought, Am I the thirteenth or the fourteenth?
Then Delphi heard Niki's question. This was something she could answer. "It's the same fruit." Delphi replied, "Oreads are the ones who manage to fight it off, Dryads succumb to it, and everyone else dies. I'm not sure about the other Oreads, but I spent the last year in agonising pain fighting this thing. It may have been gentler just to succumb or die. I left medical rehab care... yesterday."

Asgreth ignores the meager chatter of his parasite ridden peers as he answers Illujanka's question in an academic yet elitist fashion saying, "Magic is the manifestation of an immortals understanding of the underlining mechanics of reality, and their ability to manipulate those mechanics to produce desired result using their superior psionic prowess. When a spell is cast by anyone but an immortal with the understanding of the section of reality being manipulated, then they are merely asking the proper immortal to do it for them."

Illujanka nods to Asgreth. "A succient explanation. This does mean, however, that there are two important rules to Magic. One, that it follows the same principles as Channeling and Shaping, and two, that it takes time, and effort. Which immediately points out the weaknesses of Magic. Now, we will mainly be discussing High Magic here. Low Magic uses different principles, and can actually break certain rules. Biggest amongst them, is an important principle."
She stands still, and speaks clearly, and plainly. "That principle, is the Psi-Line. The Psi-Line is merely a shorthand term for the simplest principle of Psionics. You can only cast at what you can see. If you can't see it, you can't cast at it. Now. this suggests certain defenses against Magic. Everyone, what are those defenses?"

"Being inside a building, away from the caster?" Delphi answered, nervously.

"The old trick was a shrunken lead or tinfoil cone that you'd wear as a hat, now a mere smokebomb would suffice," Asgreth said spitefully as he had to think of the weaknesses to his craft.

Nikki was just more confused "So it's just someone who just fought off the parasite?" Nikki asked. Well, considering the parasite 'won' but didn't kill Nikki, she was curious as to why they were given a distinctive name.
When listening to psi-line explanation, it took a visible effort for Nikki to avoid a 'no duh' expression. Seriously? It didn't take a genius to figure out that you weren't going to be hitting anything that you couldn't see "Doesn't that 'can't attack what you can't see' rule apply to... you know... any attack short of an artillery strike? I mean, put a blindfold at me, and my spear isn't hitting anything more mobile than a pinata." Nikki mentioned "Well, I guess the rule is the same as anything else: take cover if you think they're about to attack. Try to stay in cover if you're fighting with a gun."

Hearing Nikki's concept of sight limitations, Delphi turned to her as her branches returned to their normal positions behind her and asked, "You can learn how to fight without sight. Don't cartoons often have people fighting blindfolded as a sign of their martial proficiency? And besides, we're talking about magic and psychic powers. I would have thought that there would be some sort of power that allows you to essentially still see, even when blind."

Xue manages a bit of a smile. "It would be... quite difficult to hit what you can't see." A bit of a personal victory there. Stealth was fun. Though its small recourse against a burning inferno, but you take your victories where you can. At the moment, its that sneak attacks are great.

Haunted is suddenly there. Where did she come from? She's a ghost don't question it. And thus she starts floating around Illujanka as if nothing odd happened, though is quite faded at the moment, if she wasn't moving around and occasionally had something like Illunjanka behind her she'd be easy to loose track of. "...can't see to hit...can't touch either...don't know where to go...guesses are all...they have..."

"Psionics? So...we're learning how to use our minds, and not actual magic?"
Her bright expression seems to dampen a bit...she wanted to be Sailor Moon, not Liara T'Soni...though that wasn't bad either!

Illujanka is about to respond...before Kate makes her comment. She pauses. "Hold. I...should probably explain a bit more. Now, when I describe Magic as Psionics...this does not mean that it is weak. On the contrary, Magic is incredibly strong. If one would wish to purify a soul of corruption, it can be done. If one were to shoot energy blasts out of their hands, it can be done. If one were to wish to clothe oneself in armor, it can be done. Even shapeshifting, creating armor out of nothinginess...all of this is an application of will."
She extends a hand. "Now, to demonstrate what the Understanding consists of...I know the particles of the air. I know what makes them up. I know how to mold them. I know how to change them." She concentrates, and a shape forms in her hands, long, slender. It forms scales, and a spine, and a long forked tongue. In seconds...she is holding a viper in her hands, as she pets it. "And now...it is somethign new. But a mere projection of my will." She lets go, and it disappears.
"Now, to clarify why a Psi-Line is so important. It is not just a matter of 'I can only shoot something I can see.'. If I wanted to put a curse on someone...I could only do it while they were in line of sight. Were I to wish to transform someone...they would have to be in line of sight. Would I wish to put an illusion...I must be within line of sight. If I cannot see it...I cannot affect it. I cannot, say...summon minions behind a brick wall. NOW do you understand the importance of Psi-Lines...but, perhaps a demonstration..."
She gestures to behind her, where a portal opens in midair. "This Gym is connected to a Shard of mine. We will have a game, within that shard. A simple game. Hide and Tag. Your goal? To escape from me. My goal? TO find you. Now, I will limit myself solely to 'tagging' with magic. Does that seem fair?"

"Nothing is ever fair," Asgreth scoffs at Illujanka, but nonetheless approaches the portal with determination, his book bag in tow.

Delphi thinks about the teacher's question for a moment, before asking a few questions, "A few questions, first. Can we see this shard? Is it in a position where we can hide from? Will you be shooting your magic from where you are, or from where your shard is? And will we be harmed by the magic you are planning on using?"
(OOC: Possible additional question: "What is there to hide behind?" I haven't seen a description of the Gym, so I assumed that it was a large empty building with an Indoor Basketball court. Not exactly a place with much cover.)
