Haunted's here to save the day!...or wait...nope she's just floating around in the summoning circle. Hey at least she looks like she's having fun poking at the circle...and now she's a sad ghosty, having accidentally smudged the chalk in the circle as she was checking it out. She makes an attempt at fixing it, trying to push the chalk dust back into place...and fails miserably, screwing up more lines of chalk and just making more chalky smears in general. Her twin tails hang straight down as she does her best impression of a sad puppy...foxy...ghosty...something like that.

Watching her colleagues charge into battle, shi considers that the moment must be fit to step into action! Seeing how Celia was aiming for the dangerous artifact, Glenn concluded that shi has to take over the dangerous person, namely the pumpkin guy perfoming the ritual "I ask you to stand down to avoid any unnecessary damage." Shi says while the finely dressed Seraph rushes into battle, one hand at hir hip as she prepares for an attack, that follows soon after with a somewhat loud exhale as hir fist shoots out towards him.

As Chi steps out, the Cult leader blinks, looking at Chi in shock. He staggers back, confused. "Um...why would I do that? I'm...actually Jewish. Well, ethnically, anyway. My only religion is the search for TRUE POWER!" He gestures to the circle on the ground. "My only goal, is to gain the power of Gods and Demons, the TRUE POWER that would allow one to control the very universe itself. That is my one, true goal!"
And then Celia appears. He opens his mouth to address her...but instead stops to listen to her speech. He raises an eyebrow at it, surprised. Even Dima stands up...about to say something.
And then Celia fires at Dima...and the pure energy blasts backwards, knocking Celia to the ground. Bruises appear across Celia's body, and quickly fade, while Dima yelps and steps to the side. "HEY! That's...MY BOOK!" She holds the book out of the way, looking it over. "Not damaged, good. It's a collector's edition signed by the author, you jerk!" She stomps over to the chibi warrior. "This. Is. Not. On. The. Market. Heliotroph doesn't give these away. Not since he had to close his Deviantart after going famous. I am NOT going to have it ruined by..." She blinks. "Are...you a leprechaun? Does...that means if I catch you, I get a pot of gold?" And then she smiles. It's...not a good smile.
As Celia distracts Dima, the Leader turns to his cultists. "Everyone...dogpile on...IS THAT A GHOST?" Sure enough, he sees Haunted...being a sad puppy at the portal. "Is...that a Moe ghost? I always preferred sexiness, but I can see the appeal...Wait. We're being invaded by a band of ragtag misfits. That's probably not good. But I'm sure Balor will grant us his BLOOOOF!"And then he is hit by Glenn. He tries to dodge. He really does.
uqzxXjji
But, yeah. His dodge is not NEARLY good enough. He takes a consequence, in this case? "That...was my spleen." (Moderate) He doubles over...and the other eight cultists approach Glenn, putting up their hands in boxing positions. A few pull out improvised weapons...but the ones with knives and such do NOT use them. They're going more for blunt stuff.
This...might not have been the best idea... ···

Celia was blushing at this point. So wait, that was just a signed book... and she knocked herself on her ass... literally thankfully, trying to destroy it "W-well it's really out of place, you know! Because when a heroine busts in on a Balor Cult, you'd figure Black Magic Tome because it's out of place!" she shouted, albeit loud enough for the cult leader to hear.
When she was called a lepracaun, she blushed even more "I am no leprechaun! I am Celia of the Stark talent and channeling bloodline, wielder of the mighty style of..." she paused, before muttering "Darn it Celia, don't reveal your secret fighting techniques now."
She returned to shouting "And now we get back to business, and my business is justice!"
She struck a pose "Behold, minion of darkness! Soul Claw!" she shouted, before forming a surprisingly large green claw, jumping up, and attempting to strike Dima with it. She figured it would be easier to try to attack her life force, since most minions don't expect to be attacked like that.

Looking over the approaching group, Glenn simply shakes hir head "You have not understood me it seems. I have asked you to give up, otherwise you will face a similiar punishment as your friend on the floor. Being bad is bad... as the name implies." Shi says, holding onto the enemy to give up... possibly a last chance to get out unscratched for them, seeing how shi has already proven how capable shi was at...disarming a threat.
(Persuasion attempt, to try and make them give up!)

My only religion is the search for TRUE POWER!" He gestures to the circle on the ground. "My only goal, is to gain the power of Gods and Demons, the TRUE POWER that would allow one to control the very universe itself. That is my one, true goal!" "Perhaps you understand how I feel then, yes?" She doesn't wait for an answer to the question, especially since she notices that Glenn has knocked over the cult leader. She turns to the cultists who are closing in on Glenn, figuring that convincing them of the error of their ways may be of the most immediate help....if you define 'immediate' as 'long enough for a proper lecture'. Perhaps she could persuade some of them to take up a better vocation, or at least stop trying to summon Balor. "Hey! Perhaps I should introduce you all to me, yes, since I think I recognize some of you as classmates and neighbors?" Again, no response is waited for. "My name is Chiyembekezo. I am a Demon; my Realm - the focus of my magic - is Healing. Balor is, for all intents and purposes, the closest Yomi has had to a Hitler, or perhaps a serial killer like Jack the Ripper is a better comparison, only worse. When Balor was free, he killed most every demon healer he could find. No doubt, if you fools broke him free from his prison at his request or with the wrong ritual, one of the first things he would do or command to do is kill me, and friends of mine in Yomi as well." She pauses for breath, having only just begun. "But never mind my own fate. Balor's primary goal - and has been for thousands of years - been the slaughter of healers. Does your leader seek power upon a throne of skulls atop a sea of blood? Because consider this: when Balor was last loose, he went undetected. For twenty. five. thousand. years. During which, he killed most of Yomi's healers and got it blamed on Nirvana, worsening an already terrible war AND weakening Yomi's ability to care for those hurt by the war. And by accidents, and common brawls, and everything else, war is not the only thing to cause suffering in the world, no? There are still, to this day, too few with healing magic and not as much medical care available as there should be, even with modern medicine to supplement magical abilities, cooperation with healers on Earth, and a truce between Yomi and Nirvana. And this is the being you ask for power and purport to worship." Another pause for breath. "Do any of you know what sort of pain and suffering war can bring? Or even seen what can go on each and every day, even in relatively peaceful and prosperous countries like this one?" She shakes her head. "I am thankful I have never seen war, though my parents and too many others I know have. What do you think will happen if Balor escapes, or even if a group of pliable cultists start to work his will in the world?" She doesn't mention that the cultists here, though perhaps not competent enough to work Balor's will, would be plenty gullible at least. "Demonic healers will die again, many will blame the Gods of Nirvana and retaliate. Open war is all too likely to start again, and the Psychic Communities on Earth will be drawn in, followed by the governments and everyone else, especially now we are known to the world. All for your leader's power." One more pause, with feeling. "I suggest, perhaps, you pause to think of the impact of your actions. There is too much pain and suffering in the world, in all worlds, it is best to seek to ease it instead of adding to it. Summoning Balor would hurt, unless you are his psychotherapist, yes?" After all, perhaps Balor's own mania was caused by a mental disorder which could be treated by a competent psychotherapist....which in no way, shape or form described anyone in the room, she was sure. Haunted suddenly poofs in front of the armed cultist nearest Glenn, for once looking somewhat pissed. "No! Bad bunny!" What she's talking about is...less than clear, however what is clear is that... (Rolling to activate improve Power Tricks, spending a fate point to do so) ugcm_8HH (And as the dice cancel out and the required roll is four...)
A sudden, if not exactly powerful, but certainly unexpected force starts trying to yank the cultist's weapon from his hands and up into the air, strange green and dark brown lines spreading across it, reminiscent of wood and leaves. ···

The first to act is Dima, who sputters back at Celia. "Hey Even cultists seeking ULTIMATE POWER, trademark, need something to do in their spare time! It's a good book! And, besides, any decent cult makes sure to copy down the black magic tome to a USB drive or some..."
And then she sees Celia's attack.
(Dima concedes before rolling)
"Oh...Xara." And then she's hit by the blast of energy, knocked back to the ground with blood coming out of her mouth. She's definitely still alive...but definitely out of the fight.
And, the cultist listen to Glenn's threats, quietly putting down the weapons they've just picked up. They don't even notice as Haunted promptly yanks them up, and out of reach. "Look, we're not here to HURT anybody, just, you know, have some fun and see if this works..."
(They take mental stress, though even that is not enough for a 'kill'. I'll give them a consequence, 'Unsure of their purpose')
And then Chii gives her speech. The pain in Chii's voice, the htoughts of causing a war...and a justified comparison to HItler, all hit them. Well, most of them. One in the back looks. "Doesn't that count as Godwin's law?"
"Shh...She justified it with the Jack the RIpper thing...and, YOU want to start a war killing countless people?"
"Point."
They lay down their weapons, all of them unwilling and unable to fight. Intimidated by Glenn, convinced by Chii...they are completely unwilling to aid this cult anymore.
(They concede...Chii, epic speech. You know how I've said 'elaborate' a lot? THAT IS WHY. Chii gains 1 EXP bonus, just for sheer epicness)
And then, the cult leader, still on the ground after his broken nose, staggers to the circle. "FOOLS! IF YOU WILL NOT ACCEPT THE POWER THAT HE OFFERS, I SHALL! BALOR! I CALL UPON YOU! SCION OF THE EVIL EYE, GRANT ME YOUR POWER! MAY MY GLARE ANNIHILATE MY ENEMIES!" Blood drips onto the circle, desperation in his eyes. He will not fail! He must not!
The circle sparks...and fails, rendered worthless by Haunted. He looks for the Athame...currently floating behind the ghost. The Cult Leader gulps. "Um...Parley?"
(Victory to the PCs. Everyone gains 5 EXP)

"Wooooo! First real evil minion down! Now time to-"
And then Celia stopped moving and talking for a moment, as she listened to Chii's speech. Ah yes, the classic heroic 'last chance to quit' speech. It was quite nicely done, if she said so herself. If Chii would simply take up true heroism, the demon would have a bright future in heroic banter; still, all her (fictional) sources knew that no matter how epic your speech, unless you were dealing with a the 'honorable villian', 'dark magical girl', or 'rival villain' archetypes, with the occassional 'big bad friend', 'well intentioned extremist', or 'fallen hero' exception, you could expect the villain to simply scoff. The cult leader was the 'ultimate power' type; and there was no way that they... just gave up.
Celia just stared, as she realized the entire cult had just called it quits.
"B-but we were supposed to have this epic battle where good comes out triumphant!" Celia thought. Well... a world of peace was like the ultimate heroic objective, right? So while this typically wasn't how it worked, it was good it did. This was the exception, not the rule, mind you. 9/10 cults were totally ones that they'd have to heroically beat the snot out.
So... she guessed it ended pretty well. But it was still entirely awkward.
"So... uh... anyone want to go get something to eat?" she asked.

Chii winced as she saw Celia's....'Soul Claw' (such a terrible and disturbing name)....strike Dima and cause her to fall down on the ground, making a note to herself to check as soon as possible due to the possibility of having a concussion or worse.
Thankfully, she thinks, she may actually have time to check on it, as the other cultists put down their weapons and appeared ready to surrender, so she started to walk towards Dima....then she heard the shout 'FOOLS!', and turned toward the cult leader, who was.....trying to summon Balor using his own blood....Chii ran towards the cult leader, preparing to try to stop him with a running tackle, too late to stop him....
And then the ritual fizzled, and it seemed the cult leader's dagger was in Haunted's care. Chii just barely managed to keep herself from tripping as she stopped herself. She then took a quick look at Dima to make sure she wasn't in immediate danger, before turning her attention to the cult leader, to reply to his request for parley.
"Parley, then? It is best if there is no more fighting, yes? Then the question is....what to do for you?" Chii perhaps should have said 'with you', did not try to correct herself.
"There are three possibilities. One, I can contact the university administration and have them handle cleaning up the mess here. They will most likely find some place to hold you to make sure you are not infected by a spell or something similar, perhaps you will face academic punishment if you are a student and they may fine you for violating a regulation or three, yes?" Sometimes regulations and codes of law seemed as if they may as well be occult and eldritch, to her, especially if the person in charge was particularly stubborn or was expecting a bribe which was not forthcoming.
She continued on. "Or, if you truly prefer, you could go to Yomi instead. Ilujanka Baal is a guest teacher here," she left out that she didn't have the best relationship with the legendary demon warrior, but for something like a Balor cult leader - no matter how incompetent - she didn't think it would matter much, "and I have other contacts there who could take you from here to there. I do not recommend this course of action, because trying to summon Balor typically leads to the summoner being put to death, and from what I can see warrior demons tend not to deal well with foolishness. That would likely be a bad thing, yes? Perhaps better to go to the university, yes? Far too much death in the world already, best to keep more from happening unless it is truly what you desire - or perhaps they may be merciful."
A pause for a deep breath, then continuing. "There is a third possibility, but I am less certain of this and will only go ahead with it if my companions here agree to it, since it would be taking matters into our own hands." She nods to Celia, Haunted, and Glenn, unsure if they would agree with this - it certainly was not the sort of thing she thought occurred in Celia's 'world'. "You wished to contract with a Demon for power? A Demon stands before you now, if a young and inexperienced one." She points to herself. "But beyond the fact that my power is not precisely the ultimate power of the universe," In truth, her power was focused on healing, which probably would not be appealing to someone who wanted ultimate power, "making deals with us does not come without cost. We can discuss a potential cost if you agree, but part of it would most certainly be an agreement to never try summoning Balor again, nor having any involvement with his cults or any other cults which promise unlimited power from evil Demons or Gods, and I would also take suggestions from my companions as to other prices, or even a simple favor or favors owed. It is another option to consider, yes?"
She then concluded her second speech in the past five minutes. "I have no recommendation, though I suspect you will not desire the second option. It is said this country is a free one, so I leave the decision to you."

The cult leader is quiet for quite a while. As Chi stare, the rest of the cult moves to file out, not QUITE leaving yet, but gathering towards the exit. Until, finally, he speaks. "Option 1...I'll take option 1." The pumpkin faced boy appears defeated, and resigned. He won't be a problem for a good long time, hopefully. And, if he does, well...he's lost his authority, so that'll do some stuff. Probably. At present, though, he's just...broken.
Dima, for her part, finally gets to her feet with a groan, and looks at Celia. "So...if I agree to not help an evil cult like this again...will you please stop cursing my soul?" She coughs up a bit more blood. "Feel like I got pneumonia." Chii can tell she doesn't. She just has minor Chi damage. It'll heal up in a bit. She just needs plenty of fluids, and a check-up in the morning to ensure no further complications. Since the general effect of Chi damage is 'bleeding very easily'...she needs to make sure to restore that blood. "Why...WHY did I go with him on this?"
One of the cultists at the exit pipes in. "HE BOUGHT YOU AN UNOPENED, SIGNED COPY OF XENOGEARS FOR YOUR BIRTHDAY!"
Dima nods. "...Point." She coughs up blood. "...That's...actually worth getting beaten up by a leprechaun."

When the cult leader suddenly starts shouting, Haunted quickly does what a cowardly ghost does best. Hide in the corner. Once things calm down again though and the cult leader surrenders, she slowly starts wandering the room again, the weapons left in a pile in the corner looking like they're somewhat covered in old fallen leaves...and then she floats by Dima. She pauses for a moment, before going bleh and shaking her head. "You taste funny..." She then starts casually floating around/through the other cultists, entertaining herself by making little colorful illusory flowers and leaves and putting them on the cultists randomly. It would seem the fact that they were technically 'fighting' and such five seconds ago has slipped her mind already.

"So, we've got repentant cultists who are defeated, and aren't going to be evil anymore. That means... defeat equals friendship! New team members!" Celia shouted "Waaaaaait... did we really defeat them? I mean, they just sort of gave up."
Celia looked at Dima and the leader, before continuing "Well most of them just gave up. So does defeat by forfeit count?"
Celia took out her iPad, and said "Just gimme me a moment, I'm gonna get some hero research done on TVTropes. Ladies and..." she looked towards Glenn for a second "Right! We may have the opportunity to set heroic precedent here!"
