Description:
Name: James Firefly
Gender: Male
Age: 20
Species: Demigod (Grandchild)
Appearance: He is of an average build, but he appears to be slightly more muscular, though not in any notable way. He prefers wearing shirts and trousers of bright colors, most often orange, rarely bright red and bright yellow. His face has some traces of acne, thought not much. His eyes, as well as his hair, are bright orange.
Personality: James not the brightest bulb in the bunch, but he sure has willpower. He is very hard-working, but doesn't show the part, instead making friends and exploring the surroundings of the region he's in. He dislikes, however, the dark of the night, and he will often carry a flashlight and a pack of batteries with himself just in case if night falls while he is exploring.
Background: James was born to a seemingly normal couple, and a first-born at that. He has inherited his mother's orange hair and eyes, while it was a strange development, orange hair is a recessive gene, it was still kind of expected. He never went to kindergarten, as his mother was at home and taught him the basic stuff herself. Despite this, however, he was not able to learn much, primarily because he was still a child. Or they thought that was the reason. At school, he was initially bullied, being called out on orange hair, and got in a fight or two, but that soon stopped as the bullies got bored of it. James has studied with determination, but he still scored less than average.
James like exploring a lot, and he made his own map of his city, often updating it and becoming better in cartography. He often would go out and add more details, or update them if, for example, a local shop goes out of business. He ended up helping people to find places there a lot. As much as he improved the map, he found it necessary to make it more detailed as he found himself more intrigued with how much details there are to note. But he became so obsessed with his hobby, he started to fall back on some of his subjects in the school.
As a result of his obsession, James' scores were just barely good to float, and he was kind of sad when his graduation exam scores were less than pleasing. Most of the colleges had better candidature from other students of his age, and James could not find a one that both would accept him and would interest him. One evening, when he was coming back from another failed interview, he saw a strange girl... were her hair and eyes as orange as his. Before he could realize that she was standing right here, he could only see fireflies where she once stood. Dismissing that as a mirage due to a sheer amount of fireflies that were around this evening, he still noticed that there were more fireflies on his path back home. Not being terribly superstitious, he could not swat away such a coincidence, and so he followed the path as it has, eventually, led him back home. He was grateful to fireflies for keeping his road alight, though. It was pretty late.
At home, he was met by his parents, who were a little bit more... formal?.. today. They invited him to the dinner table and on it were lying a single unopened letter. They then sat him down and handed him the letter, which had his name on and was written from a college. When he did open the letter and started reading it, he was surprised by his dad suddenly congratulating him aloud, and he didn't notice his mom leaving to get the cake. He started to tell his father what was written in the invitation, and he was taken aback by that. He, however, just asked if James was okay with studying there will all the people there. James' answer was affirmative and he excused himself to his computer to learn more about the place. When his mom came back parents congratulated him again, and started discussing how James would settle at the city while eating the cake.
