[12/28/2015 11:04:53 AM] Recette: Nikki was reading her history book for class. Revolutionary War, to be precise... and wondered if Greta had been in Europe or America at that time. Heh, funny: she could probably just ask Greta for the answers on her next test. Wouldn't be surprised if she'd had a cup of tea with Washington.
And to think she'd live as long as she wo... hahahaha, no. Nikki was keenly aware that she had a reasonable shot at being, well... shot to death before she turned 50, given she was going into the military. Ah well, she continued reading.
[12/28/2015 11:05:59 AM] Mitchell Anderson: And, speaking of which, that's when Greta sists down next to Nikki, with a lunchbox..huh. It's actually a Bento Box, Okinawan style.
[12/28/2015 11:07:42 AM] Recette: Nikki smilled "Oh, afternoon Ms.Van Hoose."
[12/28/2015 11:08:13 AM] Mitchell Anderson: "Afternoon, Nikki. How are your studies going? WIll you be taking my course on the Holy Roman Empire?"
[12/28/2015 11:08:43 AM | Edited 11:08:57 AM] Recette: Nikki smiled "Yeah. Honestly though, you've mentioned that place several times. Take it that's where and when you grew up?"
[12/28/2015 11:08:58 AM] Mitchell Anderson: "Born and Raised. Born and RAZED, actually. Thrice."
[12/28/2015 11:09:58 AM] Recette: Nikki blinked a few times "Huh? Wait. You were in the military?" Greta never seemed like the army girl type.
[12/28/2015 11:10:42 AM] Mitchell Anderson: "Oh, no. I wasn't in the military then. I was a villager. There...weren't women seving in the military. They...well, they served under the military, if at all."
[12/28/2015 11:13:25 AM] Recette: Nikki chuckled "Fair, but then again, people managed to keep a whole magical world under wraps for centuries."
She sighed "Sounds like you've been through a lot, in more than one meaning."
[12/28/2015 11:13:51 AM] Mitchell Anderson: "I've lived a very long time. It happens. As I was saying...my home village was razed thrice."
[12/28/2015 11:15:41 AM] Recette: Nikki looked slightly uncomfortable. Honestly, a part of her wanted to hug her for that. But it'd been hundreds of years. Old wounds... can last a while though. Besides, she... wasn't exactly super huggy.
"Ouch." she merely said.
[12/28/2015 11:17:30 AM] Mitchell Anderson: "Well, casualties were comparitively low. It was mainly stealing anything that wasn't nailed down or on fire, stealing anything that wasn't nailed down AND on fire, and then stealing everything"
[12/28/2015 11:23:11 AM] Recette: Nikki nodded "Well, still..."
[12/28/2015 11:24:43 AM] Mitchell Anderson: "YEah. Not exactly a fun time." SHe looks around, seeing who else is nearby
[12/28/2015 11:27:33 AM] Recette: Honestly, it almost made Nikki feel glad she might die early. Because it'd kinda suck to see if America ever fell to some foreign invader... or worse, rotted from withi... nope, not going to get depressive over this kind of stuff yet.
[12/28/2015 11:28:55 AM] Mitchell Anderson: "So, how's your history homework doing, Nicky?"
[12/28/2015 11:31:57 AM] Recette: "Eh, usual. I've had to study more, but like usual, the trick is to study the biggest and smallest parts then deduce stuff." Nikki explained. Only for Nikki would it be more effective to play Sherlock on every test than study it normally. She'd probably get better grades if she actually studied stuff normally, but hey, she got high enough grades to get where she wanted to in life.
[12/28/2015 11:32:37 AM] Mitchell Anderson: "Ah. I see. Just be careful of Unknown Unknowns. Do not forget the story of "Watson learns the trick""
[12/28/2015 11:34:13 AM] Recette: Nikki blinked "Um... sure?" It wouldn't have been any more clear if she had just said she had no idea what she was talking about than what she'd just said.
[12/28/2015 11:35:02 AM] Mitchell Anderson: "Have you not read that story? Watson attempts Sherlockian deductions...and fails miserably. Hold on." Greta pulls out a table
[12/28/2015 11:35:42 AM] Recette: "Well. You've had a long time to read more books than I have." Nikki told her.
[12/28/2015 11:36:25 AM] Mitchell Anderson: "I saw Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's plays."
[12/28/2015 11:38:37 AM] Recette: Nikki nodded "Ah."
[12/28/2015 11:39:01 AM] Mitchell Anderson: "So...I've been looking into your past. It does not lack interest."
[12/28/2015 11:43:09 AM] Recette: Nikki was looking uncomfortable, blushing deeply, and letting out a nervous squeak "Eeeee?" Dang it, she thought she'd cove... crap, she thought she'd covered her past up, particularly in regards to dealing with Adrian.
[12/28/2015 11:45:32 AM] Mitchell Anderson: "Not to mention, I've seen a few dealing with your situation, Nick."
[12/28/2015 11:47:08 AM] Recette: Nikki looked nervous as heck, not exactly knowing what to say. There was only one person she'd told before, and Niko had her own changes she had to deal with.
[12/28/2015 11:48:52 AM] Mitchell Anderson: "So, how are you handling the change in which team you...bat for, to put it in current terms."
[12/28/2015 11:54:54 AM | Edited 11:55:20 AM] Recette: Nikki nodded "It's... been very awkward, to say the least. Not... used to being looked at, y'know... among a lot of other things. Many a lot bigger. Most a lot bigger."
[12/28/2015 11:56:34 AM] Mitchell Anderson: "Well, look in the bright side. You'll have a lot of time to get used to it. I was lucky. I was an 'old maid' when I ate the fruit"
[12/28/2015 11:57:33 AM | Edited 11:58:20 AM] Recette: Nikki chuckled shallowly "Eh, if I survive the first 20 years. Gotta get through field ranks first, y'know."
[12/28/2015 11:58:24 AM] Mitchell Anderson: "How's that going? I've heard teh military is much less sexist then it used to be, but there's still the issues with strength training..."
[12/28/2015 12:04:58 PM | Edited 12:05:24 PM] Recette: Nikki nodded "Yeah, that'll be the problem. Even with melee weapons, the right fighting style will get around actually fighting. Hell, that extra bit of grace sometimes helps there. But for pure lifting strength, it'll be tricky. For me, it'll be a matter of building muscle endurance over pure strength, figure out how to get more out of what I have."
[12/28/2015 12:05:41 PM] Mitchell Anderson: "Which is useful. As, Dryad regeneration can easily lead to nigh-limitless endurance. Of course, you still get into trouble with lifting heavy things."
[4:32:42 PM] Mitchell Anderson: Waves
[4:32:54 PM] Recette: Hihi, ready?
[4:49:19 PM] Mitchell Anderson: "LIfting heavy things would be an issue, though..."
[4:55:05 PM] Recette: She sighed "Right. Well... I'll have to keep looking around for a workaround."
Nikki laughed a bit nervously "Heh, besides, any world that can make something that can rework my body to the extent it did has to have a way to let me build a bit of muscle mass, or at least get something to help with that." She seemed a bit uncomfortable joking about it though; it was painful, but she felt the need to come across as at least emotionally sound... even if she still had a lot of uncertainty in her life, including this.
[5:02:03 PM] Mitchell Anderson: She looks away "Well, the problem is that Dryads regenerate. Anything that PHYSICALLY alters your body, will be 'corrected'. That said, you can probably wear power armor, or pilot an upright."
[5:08:52 PM] Recette: "Well, that does make it harder." Nikki explained "Still, there's probably something... smaller out there."
[5:10:59 PM] Mitchell Anderson: "Oh? What do you mean?"
[5:13:01 PM] Recette: Nikki replied "Well, if that fruit is anything to go by, not every psychic items has to be intentionally activated. Maybe there's something out there that's more or less passive."
[5:18:29 PM] Mitchell Anderson: "Ah, yes. That works as well. I'm sure there are. You just can't use, say...more then basic body hardening."
[5:18:35 PM] Mitchell Anderson: "or Cyberizatoin"
[5:21:30 PM] Recette: Nikki raised an eyebrow "Hmm? I'd have thought regeneration would have made the chances of rejection skyrocket."
[5:21:55 PM] Mitchell Anderson: "That's what I meant. You can't use body hardening or Cyberization. As the chances of rejection are 100%...well, nearly 100%."
[5:22:14 PM] Mitchell Anderson: "You could maybe get a Cyberbrain as soon as they come out..."
[5:23:52 PM] Recette: Nikki shook her head "That... wouldn't really help this situation though."
[5:24:11 PM] Mitchell Anderson: "True, but I do believe your generation would find the idea quite awesome."
[5:25:47 PM] Recette: Nikki chuckled "Heh, true."
[5:28:37 PM] Mitchell Anderson: "So, what questions do you have for one who has lived as long as I?"
[5:29:18 PM] Recette: Nikki nodded "So... you mentioned a few other cases like mine."
[5:30:09 PM] Mitchell Anderson: "That is correct."
[5:30:18 PM] Mitchell Anderson: "You're not the first male dryad I've met."
[5:30:33 PM] Mitchell Anderson: "Well...ex-male."
[5:34:31 PM] Recette: Nikki nodded "If you would tell me about them. I mean, it was probably even more harsh back when."
[5:36:39 PM] Mitchell Anderson: "Well, there was Carlita...she was Spanish, and made the mistake of eating it as it had somehow gotten stuck in her vineyard. She's doing well, has been running her vineyard for the past...oh, 200 years, I think. She actually kept it as a safehouse during one of the civil wars. We keep in touch by Butterfly Paper...She didn't take her 3rd husband dying very well, though..."
[5:37:02 PM] Mitchell Anderson: *She continues onward, though there is one LARGE pattern. Most of them settled down, raised a family."
[5:37:43 PM | Edited 5:37:49 PM] Recette: Nikki raised an eyebrow, looking rather shocked "Wait, wha? Uh... did you say husband?"
[5:38:22 PM | Edited 5:40:22 PM] Recette: Nikki looked very uncomfortable "Uh... please tell me male Carlita... Carlos... was gay."
[5:41:31 PM] Mitchell Anderson: "...No. No he was not."
[5:41:59 PM] Recette: And then there was an 'oh crap' look on her face.
[5:42:55 PM] Mitchell Anderson: "Oh, Dryadism doesn't make people change who they like. I think it was just...well, eventually she got the urge to start a family. And, he was a very nice guy. Kendra, she's still gay. Of course, she ALSO ended up starting a family thanks to some advances in medical tech..."
[5:46:01 PM] Recette: Nikki sighed, catching her breath "You... you nearly gave me a heart attack there." Still she felt rather relieved. She'd had enough on her plate physically, the last thing she needed was that parasite messing with her head beyond hormones.
[5:46:56 PM] Mitchell Anderson: "That said, being an immortal has been known to screw with someone's sexuality. I...experimented a bit as well, I confess."
[5:47:24 PM] Mitchell Anderson: "I actualy identify as asexual, however."
[5:49:31 PM] Recette: Nikki blushed deeply at the though, but nodded. Well, she... probably would avoid experimenting herself, but still.
[5:51:46 PM] Mitchell Anderson: "So, how else can I help?
[5:52:05 PM] Recette: Nikki sighed "Well... anything else I should know?"
[5:52:44 PM] Mitchell Anderson: "You'll always have the community for support, growing back arms hurts like hell, and...you have a millenia to live. Enjoy it."
[5:54:00 PM] Recette: Nikki nodded. She'd... have to ask about back arms later. But... now was not the time. She smiled a little "Well... thank you."
[5:54:07 PM] Mitchell Anderson: "No problem."
[5:54:22 PM] Mitchell Anderson: "One thing that I've learned to do...is to help others. I have quite a lot of experience."
[5:55:46 PM] Recette: Nikki nodded "I will if I can."
And to think she'd live as long as she wo... hahahaha, no. Nikki was keenly aware that she had a reasonable shot at being, well... shot to death before she turned 50, given she was going into the military. Ah well, she continued reading.
