"When you stare into the abyss, the abyss may stare back, but you must not falter. Ready your weapon, let out a defiant shout, and strike decisively; that is what you must do as a hunter."
- George Easton, The Easton Journal of the Supernatural
The Easton Clan. A pretisgious family of hunters, passing their secrets, weapons and techniques through the generations. Hailing all the way back to the colonization of North America, the Easton Clan fought the things that preyed on humanity, keeping their battles in the shadows so that those not exposed to the truth of the world would be kept safe from that painful truth. Generations of knowledge and experienced being passed down, all the way to the modern day...
The latest member of the Easton clan is a girl named Niko, and she was brought up in the life of a hunter. Living in an unassuming suburban home, going to school and having childish hobbies... the perfect cover for her parents grooming her into being the next warrior of the night. After homework and on the weekends came intense training in combat, athletics, acrobatics and heavy study into the supernatural world that most remain unaware of. Niko had no protests, for this training brought her closer to the heroes many, including herself, idolized.
Well, maybe she did complain every so often. She was a teenager, after all. Despite this, she is ready, willing and prepared to fight.
There is just one thing she's been unaware of until recently... her true heritage.
Back in the 1800s, George Easton was revered as a hero. One of the few Eastons to be famous, well known for fighting criminals and solving monster problems alike. He was one of the most skilled hunters in the entire history of the clan, many believing him to have supernatural powers himself... but, one fateful night he was hired by the local mayor to clear out a den of therianthropes, whom were feasting on crops and cattle. George Easton tracked them down and eradicated them save for one: a crying baby that could be no older than six months old. When George Easton looked around, the evidence all came together: the therianthropes were a civilized family, only driven to attack cattle and steal crops due to overtaxation. The mayor had put undue pressure on this family since he desired their land, and George Easton had effectively been used to kill them all.
That day, George Easton adopted the child and brought him home, while also swearing to fight the evil rather than fight the abomination. That child became a member of the Easton clan himself, and soon put down roots along with that bloodline. Trained to harness his therianthrope powers for good based on what the family knew of the species, he proved to be an excellent addition to the family.
Niko is a direct descendant of that therianthrope child, and carries within her the ability to shapeshift just as he did... the only problem is that she's only recently discovered this ability, and has a very hard time controlling it, especially in harrowing situations! She usually winds up turning into a hybrid human-animal form due to her lack of fine control, and is still rather freaked out about the ability as a whole. Despite this, she's trying to come to grips with her heritage and her abilities.
