Appearance:
For the majority of Earth, the so-called "normals," Lana is little more than a slightly nerdy schoolgirl. Standing at a below average 5-foot-4, wearing light-brown hair with scarlet ends cut pixie-style, and thick square glasses covering piercing ice-blue eyes, she is rarely found out of a slate-gray or black track shirt and matching jeans. Peeking under her left sleeve is a faded tattoo of a blue rose on her wrist, but that is her most distinguishing feature. It is also rare to find her without her prized water-resistant journal, in which she has scribbled down various "notes" about...well anything. She is the poster child for an unassuming and non-threatening geeky girl. And that's the whole point.
However, on the rare occasion you catch her at home without any "observers" nearby, her true form is both fearsome and awe-inspiring. Think of a human-sized ferret with silky black fur flecked with orange in unique patterns, deep yellow cat-like eyes, a long canine-esque snout and 4 double-pointed fangs in a mouth made for gnashing bone. That is what a Clandimime looks like when not masquerading as anything else. Their "base" or "natural" form you could say.
Personality: Lana is a bit of a duality. She is normally shy and reserved, yet she is also curious and inquisitive. Confident in her own abilities yet hesitant to test them. She is what could be referred to as a "social caterpillar," meaning she tends to be like a wallflower until or unless she opens up, at which point she is off and flying. She also has an extensive knowledge of anything to do with animals, and she can and will talk your ear off about them if you ask her.
Background:
Hailing from an isolated shard called Menagerie, Lana's people, the Clandimimes, live as little more than instinctual hunters and predators, and believe that outsiders should be avoided in the name of upholding traditions. Traditions that have been in place since the sporadic affiliation with the Sidhe multiple eons ago. Traditions that have held fast in spite of heavy yet isolated human cultural bleed-through within the past few centuries. The vast majority hold true to these traditions unerringly. Except for Lana. She doesn't believe in the xenophobic and isolationist traditions that all but a small few do. Those that share her beliefs think that more study of outside cultures would be beneficial, instead of less. Unfortunately, those same beliefs fall on not only deaf ears, but hostile ones as well. Actively shunned and called all manner of hurtful labels like "heretic", "blasphemer", "radical", and so on, Lana was thrilled at the chance to start life anew among humans on Earth through an "ambassadorship" program sponsored by the Socrates Group in an effort to understand more of the "supernatural." In exchange for information about her people, Socrates would provide Lana with suitable living arrangements within a "Community" affiliated city and enrollment within a local "educational institution" on the condition that her true self must not be revealed to anyone except those expressly identified as Socrates or Community members. Though she traded the suppression of ideals for the suppression of identity, Lana remains inquisitive and eager to learn all she can about the strange creatures she now associates with.
If a more in-depth background is desired, here is a link to an in-character journal entry Lana wrote describing her people, personal feelings, and the freedom she feels around humans.
